DENVER – (MAY 11, 2017) Pushkin Public Relations received a 2017 Silver Key Award from the Colorado Chapter of the Business Marketing Association (BMA) for Denver PrideFest: A Sudden Shift in Focus. The recognition took place at the annual Gold Key Awards gala Friday, May 5, at the historic McNichols Building with more than 200 business marketers in attendance.
Every year, the GLBT Community Center of Colorado (The Center) hosts Denver PrideFest, the annual celebration of lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual pride.
When The Center engaged Pushkin PR to coordinate interviews and secure media placements, it thought the big stories would be about the politically charged conversation about transgender bathroom rights that was dominating the national news.
After the tragic shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, everything changed. Overnight, questions about safety and security became the primary focus for the media. In turn, Pushkin PR helped The Center focus PrideFest key messages and media pitches on public safety and community pride.
“We are honored to be recognized for our work by BMA Colorado,” said Pushkin PR president, Jon Pushkin. “We love doing great work for great clients and this campaign is a good example of what you can accomplish when you have a talented team and close collaboration with your client.”
BMA Colorado received more than 100 submissions from marketing and PR agencies for this year’s Gold Key Awards. A panel of 12 independent judges representing agency and corporate marketing professionals from across the country scored entries in more than 40 categories on objectives, creativity, production, and results.
